Description
We present natural Roman chamomile essential oil for pharmaceuticals, obtained from the species Chamaemelum nobile. The product is offered under the name Chamomile Roman natural essential oil for pharmaceuticals. The product is a liquid whose colouring ranges from pale blue to grey-green. The colouring goes hand in hand with a gentle and warm odour that remains sweet, fruity-floral and herbaceous. The sweet note reaches the liquid unchanged, as steam distillation retains the light volatile constituents of the inflorescences. Steam distillation transfers the aromatic profile in pure form, which is why the olfactory characteristic of the oil remains clearly defined and recognisable. The pure profile is also linked to the homogeneous liquid consistency of the product. The consistency results from the flowers that go into the extraction and release the volatile fraction together with their natural pigments. The flowers are harvested from plantations in Bulgaria, and the species falls within the family Asteraceae, whose genera are distinguished by small and dense inflorescences. Asteraceae also includes other aromatic genera, while the original range of the species covers Western Europe and Northwest Africa. Bulgaria provides the raw material for this product, and the plantations in the country are managed naturally and without the use of synthetic auxiliaries in cultivation. Natural cultivation determines the entirely natural composition of the oil, which is obtained solely from plant raw material. No preservatives or colourants are part of the composition. The esters of angelic and tiglic acid form the main volatile part, and they are joined by branched alcohol residues characteristic of the species. The flowers of Roman chamomile remain the only carrier of this ester base.

Application
Compositions with Roman chamomile find a place in a number of pharmaceutical forms intended for oral, topical and inhalation use, including capsules, tablets, ointments, creams, drops and soothing solutions. The pronounced sedative and antispasmodic character of the oil makes it suitable for products aimed at relieving stomach and abdominal pain, colic, digestive disorders and nervous tension, as well as for formulas with a calming effect for difficulty falling asleep and stressful states. Its anti-inflammatory properties allow its inclusion in detergents for care of skin irritation, inflamed mucous membranes, wounds and swelling, as well as in products for relieving muscle and joint pain, including in arthritis and muscle spasms. Its analgesic effect makes it a valuable ingredient in products against headache and migraine, while its beneficial effect on the respiratory system underlies its use in products for colds, flu symptoms and respiratory complaints. In cosmetically oriented pharmaceutical lines, the oil is included in creams and balsams for sensitive and irritated skin, and thanks to its general strengthening effect it is also part of products that support recovery after illness or surgical intervention. Additional applications cover products for improving blood circulation, maintaining hormonal balance and relieving allergic reactions, thus providing a wide range of possibilities for manufacturers of pharmaceutical products and therapeutic formulations seeking a proven natural ingredient with diverse action.
